Title: Iran’s Meteorological Chief Details Ongoing Dry Spell, Highlights Water Management Efforts
Tehran, Iran – In an official briefing on the country’s climate patterns, Sahar Tajbakhsh, the Head of Iran’s Meteorological Organization, has stated that the current period of low precipitation is set to continue across many regions.
A Prolonged Dry Spell
According to the latest forecasts, the province of Tehran is not expected to see any rainfall for the next ten days. Ms. Tajbakhsh confirmed that the conditions of low precipitation, which were previously predicted, are persisting. This dry pattern is even more intense in other parts of the country, including eastern and southern areas, as well as the central Zagros plateau.
Addressing Water Resource Management
Ms. Tajbakhsh highlighted the specific challenges faced by the capital region, noting, “Tehran has a very high population load, and certainly, water consumption in this province is higher than in others; therefore, supplying water in this region is more challenging.” This statement underscores the ongoing national focus on managing vital water resources amidst climatic variability.
While drought conditions are present across the Iranian plateau and the Zagros regions, the official noted that the severity of water shortage is comparatively less in the northern parts of the country.
No Immediate Relief in Sight
Concluding the forecast, the Meteorological Chief confirmed that current atmospheric systems indicate no rainfall for Tehran in the coming ten-day period. The update provides crucial information for continued national planning and resource management strategies.
