Tehran Expands Electric Bus Fleet to Boost Sustainable Urban Transport
Tehran Accelerates Green Mobility with New Electric Buses
Tehran is set to enhance its public transportation network with the addition of 201 new electric buses, as announced by Mohsen Hormozi, Deputy of Transportation and Traffic at Tehran Municipality. The buses, expected to enter service after the month of Safar, will primarily operate in the city’s central and southern districts, further advancing the capital’s commitment to eco-friendly transit solutions.
Growing Fleet Signals Progress
This expansion follows the debut of 189 electric buses last March, which marked the launch of Tehran’s first electric transport package. With the latest additions, the city’s total electric bus fleet will reach 390, significantly reducing emissions and improving air quality.
Infrastructure Challenges Addressed
Hormozi also provided updates on the Haram-e Hazrat Abdolazim (AS) station project, noting that technical issues—including water-related obstacles—were resolved through collaboration with Tehran’s Prosecutor’s Office. Consultants have been engaged to rehabilitate the historic Cheshmeh Ali area, ensuring the station’s completion.
Timeline for Completion
The deputy confirmed that the Haram-e Hazrat Abdolazim (AS) station will be operational by the first half of the next Iranian year, reinforcing Tehran’s infrastructure development goals.
This initiative underscores Tehran’s dedication to modern, sustainable urban mobility, aligning with broader efforts to upgrade public transport while addressing environmental concerns.
