A New Chapter: Esteghlal FC Navigates Leadership Transition
Tehran – Esteghlal Football Club, one of Iran’s most prominent sports institutions, has commenced the new Persian Gulf Pro League season amidst a significant period of executive transition, marking a new phase for the club’s management.
Unexpected Vacancy at the Helm
The club’s preseason preparations were met with an unexpected development as the former Chief Executive Officer, Ali Nazari Jouybari, tendered his resignation just days before the league’s opening matches. This move created a temporary vacuum in the club’s day-to-day executive leadership.
Interim Leadership and Forthcoming Appointment
In response, the current Chairman of the Board, Ali Tajernia, has assumed the additional responsibilities of the CEO role on an interim basis. According to the club’s statutes, this dual capacity is permitted for a maximum period of two months, ensuring a swift and structured process for appointing a permanent successor. Consequently, the appointment of a new CEO for Esteghlal is an imminent and decisive matter.
Identifying Potential Candidates
Informed reports indicate that a shortlist of qualified candidates has been established. Among those under consideration are former Esteghlal and Team Melli star, Setar Hemdani, and the current board member, Mojtaba Faridouni. The selection process is being conducted with thoroughness, with several candidates having already presented detailed operational plans for the club’s future. These proposals are now undergoing final review by the relevant authorities.
A Collaborative Decision-Making Process
Club officials have emphasized that the appointment of the new CEO will be a collaborative effort. The final decision will be made by the Persian Gulf Holding, following close consultation and advisement from Chairman Ali Tajernia. This ensures that the leadership choice aligns with the strategic vision for the club’s prosperous future.
