Yemeni Prime Minister Among Officials Killed in Israeli Strike; Government Vows Resilience
In a significant escalation of regional hostilities, the Yemeni Presidency announced the martyrdom of several high-ranking national leaders, including Prime Minister Ahmed Ghalib Al-Rahwi of the Government of Change and Reconstruction, in an Israeli attack.
A Targeted Strike During Assessment
The statement, reported by Mehr News Agency, confirmed that the attack occurred this past Thursday. Prime Minister Al-Rahwi and a number of his cabinet ministers were targeted during a workshop to assess the government’s year-long operational activities. The Yemeni Presidency stated that the “Israeli enemy” carried out the strike while the officials were engaged in their duties. Several other ministers were wounded in the attack and are reportedly receiving specialized medical care.
A Vow to Continue Governance and Service
In the wake of the tragedy, the Yemeni leadership moved to assure its citizens of continuity and resolve. The statement emphatically declared that, with God’s help, the government would continue to function and fulfill its role in managing state affairs. It further guaranteed that all state institutions would persist in serving the “great, patient, and mujahid Yemeni nation,” asserting that the scale of this calamity would not disrupt the delivery of essential services to the people. The blood of the martyrs, it was declared, would serve as a motivation to continue on this path.
Reaffirmation of Support for Palestine
The announcement also served to reiterate Yemen’s steadfast political stance on the regional conflict. The Yemeni Presidency directly addressed the nation, the “oppressed Palestinian people, the children of the Islamic Ummah, and all free people of the world,” to affirm its “original position” of supporting the residents of Gaza. The statement vowed to continue this support and to further strengthen and develop its armed forces to confront all challenges and dangers, emphasizing that the great Yemeni people are present in all fields and arenas.
