Title: National Weather Outlook: Stable Skies Bring Air Quality Concerns and a Gradual Cooldown
A Nation’s Forecast: Stability and Stagnation
The National Center for Weather Prediction and Crisis Management of Hazards has provided a detailed national weather outlook, forecasting predominantly calm and stable atmospheric conditions across most provinces until the end of the week. While this suggests pleasant weather for many, officials have highlighted a significant downside: the stable air is expected to lead to a concentration of atmospheric pollutants.
According to Sadegh Ziaeian, head of the center, this phenomenon will result in reduced air quality and a persistence of air pollution indices at levels considered unhealthy for all groups, particularly in populous and industrial cities.
Heightened Health Warnings
The situation requires public awareness. Ziaeian further cautioned that over the next three days, if stationary and mobile sources of pollution in high-traffic and industrial areas are not adequately managed, there is a tangible possibility that pollution indices could reach the “very unhealthy” threshold, and even approach hazardous levels in some contexts.
This warning follows the existing orange-level air pollution alert, with expectations for a noticeable increase in the concentration of pollutants and, at times, reduced visibility, especially in urban transit corridors.
Regional Variations: A Hint of Precipitation
The nationwide pattern of stability will see some exceptions. Weather models indicate a change starting Wednesday afternoon in the Kurdistan and southern West Azerbaijan provinces, where an increase in cloud cover and a chance of scattered precipitation is forecast. This pattern is expected to extend to parts of the Mazandaran and Golestan provinces on Thursday, offering a respite to those regions.
Capital Conditions and a Nationwide Cooldown
For the capital, Tehran, the forecast for today is clear yet hazy skies, with a gradual increase in clouds. Minimum and maximum temperatures are predicted to be 6 and 17 degrees Celsius, respectively. Over the next five days, the skies over Tehran province are expected to range from clear to partly cloudy, with occasional mild winds.
Looking further ahead, a gradual cooling trend is forecast to begin on Wednesday and continue through Sunday, affecting the entire country with a more pronounced drop in temperatures expected in northern regions.
