Title: Iran Launches YASNA Initiative: New Digital Platform to Streamline Nutritional Subsidies for Families
Iran Introduces Comprehensive Support Package for Mothers and Children
In a significant move to bolster social welfare, the Iranian government will commence payments for the YASNA subsidy plan from the month of Azar (beginning November 21). The initiative, managed through the streamlined SIMIN system, is designed to provide targeted financial and nutritional assistance to families, with a specific focus on the health and well-being of young children.
Direct Financial Aid for Infant Nutrition
A central component of the YASNA plan is direct monetary support for mothers of infants. According to the Director-General of the Support and Empowerment Office of the Ministry of Cooperation, Labour, and Social Welfare, eligible mothers with children under two years of age will receive a monthly payment of 700,000 Tomans. This financial aid is specifically allocated for improving the nutritional intake of their children, ensuring a healthier start in life.
Expanded Support for Children Under Five
Running concurrently with the YASNA initiative is a complementary program for children under five suffering from malnutrition. This program provides substantial support, with a total of 1.3 million Tomans scheduled to be deposited directly into the household head’s bank account in several installments, concluding by the end of the Persian month of Farvardin (mid-April).
Free Nutritional Basket and Digital Access
Beyond direct cash transfers, identified mothers enrolled in the YASNA scheme will benefit from a comprehensive free food basket. This basket includes essential food groups such as dairy products, grains, pulses, protein sources, vegetables, fruits, and nuts. To ensure ease of access and modern distribution, these food supplies will be available for redemption using a dedicated commodity voucher (کالابرگ), integrating seamlessly with the digital infrastructure of the subsidy system.
