Title: Iran Expands Student Welfare Initiatives with Enhanced Housing and Family Support Loans
In a significant move to bolster student welfare, a senior official from the Ministry of Health’s Student Welfare Fund has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing comprehensive financial support to the student community. These initiatives are designed to alleviate economic pressures and facilitate key life milestones.
Continuity of Financial Support
Hamid Raeisi, Deputy of Facilities at the Student Welfare Fund, emphasized the uninterrupted provision of welfare loans to students. He confirmed that since the start of the current Iranian year (March 2024), registration for housing deposit, marriage, and childbirth loans has been open, with no financial limitations imposed on these facilities to date.
Revised Housing Deposit Loan Amounts
Detailing the updated support structure, Raeisi outlined the new tiers for the housing deposit loan, which now vary by geographic location. Reflecting the higher cost of living in the capital, the loan amount for Tehran has been set at 150 million tomans. For cities with populations exceeding 500,000, the loan is 120 million tomans, while in cities with fewer than 500,000 residents, students can access 100 million tomans.
Boost to Marriage and Childbirth Loans
In a move to further support students and their families, the fund has substantially increased the amounts for marriage and childbirth loans. The marriage loan for students and medical assistants at universities of medical sciences has been doubled, rising from 25 million to 50 million tomans. Similarly, the childbirth loan has seen a significant uplift, increasing from 6 million to 15 million tomans.
Deadline for Document Submission
Concluding the announcement, Deputy Raeisi reminded universities and faculties of medical sciences of their obligation to submit all necessary documentation related to the disbursement of these facilities. The deadline for submission is set for the 5th of Esfand, 1404 (February 23, 2025), with the submission window having been open since the 15th of Ordibehesht (May 4, 2024). This structured timeline ensures the efficient and timely allocation of funds to eligible students.
