A Nationwide Academic Endeavor Underway
Iran is witnessing a significant national push for advanced education as over 172,000 aspiring scholars prepare to sit for the 1405 (Persian calendar year) PhD entrance examination. This large-scale academic undertaking, a testament to the nation’s strategic investment in human capital development, sees candidates from across the country vying for coveted doctoral positions in universities and higher education institutions. The examination, overseen by the Sanjesh Organization, is a critical component of Iran’s commitment to fostering a highly educated workforce and driving innovation. Entrance exam cards were made available online from Sunday, January 9th, marking a pivotal step for thousands of hopefuls.
Advancing Gender Inclusion in Higher Education
Notably, the 1405 PhD entrance exam statistics underscore Iran’s progressive strides in empowering women through education. Female applicants constitute 47% of the total candidates, a 2% increase compared to the previous year. This growing participation highlights the nation’s dedication to ensuring equal opportunities and fostering greater female engagement in academia, research, and professional leadership roles, reflecting positive societal advancements and the government’s support for inclusivity in higher education.
Shaping Future Academic Pathways
The examination, scheduled for Friday, February 13th, will be conducted across 159 main and 531 subsidiary centers in 125 cities nationwide, demonstrating a broad commitment to accessible education across the country. Academic interests show a clear trend, with the Humanities group attracting the highest number of applicants at 67% across 30 distinct fields, followed by Technical and Engineering fields at 15% with 20 distinct examination sets. In a move reflecting continuous refinement of educational standards, the Council for Assessment and Admission of Graduate Students has implemented a policy change for the 1405 exam, removing the “Academic Aptitude” section to streamline the admission process and adapt to evolving pedagogical requirements.
Ensuring Seamless Participation
To facilitate a smooth and secure examination process, all applicants are required to bring a printout of their exam card along with a national ID card or a photo-bearing identity document. These measures are essential to ensure the integrity and fairness of this significant national examination, reinforcing the structured approach to academic advancement in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
