New Interest-Free Medical Loan Announced for Armed Forces Retirees
In a significant move to support its veterans, the Armed Forces Retirement Organization has unveiled the details of a new, comprehensive interest-free medical loan. This initiative, designed to alleviate the financial burden of healthcare costs, extends coverage to retirees, their spouses, and dependent children.
The program, enacted per directive number 4817/04/16/1030 from the General Administration of Social Security of the Armed Forces, covers a wide array of critical medical expenses, including:
- Kidney transplants
- Bone marrow transplants
- Cochlear implants for individuals over five years old
- Outpatient services, including genetic testing and bone grafts
- Medical equipment and supplies
- Pharmaceuticals not covered by standard obligations
- Other hospital costs approved by the Armed Forces Social Security Organization
Eligibility and Loan Specifications
To qualify for this financial support, the outstanding, unpaid balance of medical expenses must exceed 5 million tomans. Costs below this threshold are not currently prioritized for payment. Furthermore, all documentation of medical costs and the remaining balance must be formally verified by the insured persons unit or the financial department of the medical services administration.
The loan carries a maximum cap of 30 million tomans. However, the final approved amount is subject to the review and confirmation by the central headquarters of the Armed Forces Retirement Organization (SABA) and may be less than the maximum.
Pre-Treatment Financing Available
Recognizing that some treatments require upfront payment for medical equipment or hospital fees, the program includes a provision for pre-treatment loans. Retirees who cannot afford these initial costs can apply for the loan in advance by submitting a proforma invoice and a doctor’s order. These documents will be sent to the SABA headquarters for assessment, and if approved, the funds will be disbursed prior to the procedure.
How to Apply
Eligible retirees can apply for this interest-free loan by visiting their local Armed Forces Retirement Office. This supportive scheme is a clear reflection of the ongoing commitment to safeguarding the well-being of those who have served, ensuring they and their families receive the medical care they need without undue financial strain.
