Title: Iran Launches “Simin” Platform to Modernize Subsidy Management
In a significant step towards digital governance, Iranian authorities have unveiled the Simin platform, a centralized system designed to streamline the administration of the nation’s subsidy program. The platform aims to transition all subsidy-related tasks for eligible citizens to a fully online process.
A Centralized Digital Hub
The Simin Platform, whose name is derived from the Persian phrase for “Integrated Subsidy Management System,” has been introduced by the Organization for Targeted Subsidies. Its primary objective is the centralized management of banking and household information for subsidy recipients. By connecting automatically with the National Organization for Civil Registration, Simin ensures secure and efficient handling of citizens’ identity data.
Key Features and Functionalities
The platform is designed to take over administrative duties previously handled through physical bank branches and police department offices. Its key features empower heads of households to:
- Update Banking Details: Effortlessly modify or register new bank account information (Sheba number) for receiving cash subsidies.
- Manage Household Composition: Report changes in family size, a critical factor in determining the exact subsidy amount.
- Access Payment History: Review records of past subsidy payments.
- Convert Subsidy Type: Request to convert all or a portion of their cash subsidy into an electronic goods voucher, a new option facilitated by the platform.
Registration Process and Clarifications
Accessing the platform is straightforward. Citizens can visit simin.hadafmandi.ir through an internet browser. The registration process requires the head of the household to enter their registered mobile number and national ID, followed by a verification code sent via SMS.
Crucially, officials have clarified that registration on the Simin platform is not mandatory. Contrary to some circulating reports, the disbursement of cash subsidies is not conditional upon signing up for this new service. The platform is intended as a convenient digital alternative for those who wish to manage their subsidy affairs online, replicating services that were traditionally offered in person.
A Phased Implementation
Currently, the Simin platform is in an operational testing phase. While it marks a forward-looking move in Iran’s public service delivery, some initial technical challenges during registration have been noted. The government’s approach underscores a commitment to a gradual and smooth digital transition for its citizens.
