Head of Iran’s Pension Fund Vows to Uphold Retirees’ Rights, Highlights Logistics as Key to Economic Development
In a significant address to retirees and veterans, the acting head of Iran’s State Pension Fund underscored the government’s commitment to safeguarding pensioner rights and outlined a vision for economic growth through strategic logistics development.
A Pledge to Retirees
Dr. Alaeddin Azouji, speaking at a ceremony honoring retirees and veterans of the General Warehouses and Customs Services Company, emphasized the invaluable role of the retired community. “The real capital of this organization is its retirees,” Dr. Azouji stated. He acknowledged past shortcomings, affirming, “It is our duty to protect the rights of retirees and create hope and peace of mind for them.” He directly linked the well-being of retirees to national prosperity, noting that improving their conditions would raise the overall life expectancy in society, a goal achievable through reforming the performance of the Fund’s economic companies.
The company’s CEO, Dr. Kazem Salimi, echoed this sentiment, directly addressing the attendees. “If you feel that you have been wronged, I take responsibility for this shortcoming and will stand up for your rights until the last moment,” he declared, recognizing retirees as “valuable assets” of the nation.
Logistics: An Engine for National Prosperity
Beyond social commitments, the officials outlined a forward-looking economic strategy. Dr. Azouji identified logistics, tourism, sports, and health as modern, wealth-generating sectors globally. He articulated a clear vision for Iran’s potential, stating, “Logistics has a framework that, if used properly, can turn Iran into one of the wealthiest countries.”
Dr. Salimi positioned the General Warehouses Company at the forefront of this national effort, expressing his determination to restore the company to its rightful place as a central logistics hub, pivotal to the country’s economic development.
Honoring Sacrifice and Service
The ceremony, held in a warm and intimate atmosphere, served to honor the legacy of retirees and veterans. Dr. Salimi paid tribute to their culture of self-sacrifice, stating that retirees are a form of veteran themselves, having spent years in wholehearted service to the nation.
The event also coincided with the national Day and Week of the Elderly. In a separate message, Dr. Azouji praised retirees and seniors as “the clear mirror of a nation’s efforts and hopes” and a “treasure” whose presence deepens the feeling of security, stability, and connection between generations. He described retirement not as an end, but as the “beginning of a new chapter of being,” reinforcing the state’s view of the elderly as dignified, present, and an integral part of the heart of society.
