Iran Announces Schedule and Details for Fifth Phase of Essential Goods Subsidy
In a significant move to support citizens, the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran has officially confirmed the commencement of the fifth phase of its targeted subsidy program, commonly known as the “Goods Coupon” or “Kalaabaragh.”
Imminent Rollout Confirmed
Seyed Hamid Pourmohammadi, the Head of the Planning and Budget Organization, announced that the necessary funds for the subsidy have been secured and allocated to the Ministry of Welfare. The distribution of credit will begin imminently, starting with the lower-income deciles and progressively extending to the seventh decile.
Unchanged Support Amounts
According to the official statement, the value of the support credit remains consistent with previous phases. The breakdown is as follows:
- First to Third Income Deciles: 500,000 Tomans per person, per month.
- Fourth to Seventh Income Deciles: 350,000 Tomans per person, per month.
Purpose and Accessibility
It is important to note that these funds are specifically designated for the purchase of nine essential food items. They are non-transferable and can only be used at designated and contracted retail outlets, ensuring the subsidies directly contribute to household essential goods baskets.
This initiative is part of the government’s ongoing social support policies aimed at mitigating economic pressures and ensuring the stability of essential commodity access for qualified citizens.
