Title: National Pension Fund Expands Welfare Services, Delivering Critical Support to Retirees
In a significant move to bolster the welfare of the nation’s retirees, the National Pension Fund has announced the successful disbursement of thousands of low-interest loans and the expansion of its comprehensive support programs, underscoring a sustained commitment to this vital segment of society.
Substantial Loan Disbursements in 2024
Mr. Hamidreza Sheikhi, Director General of Retiree Welfare Services at the National Pension Fund, reported that since the start of the current Iranian year (March 2024), 144,000 essential, interest-free loans have been granted to retirees. These facilities are specifically designed with easy repayment terms to minimize financial pressure.
In addition to this core support, the Fund has provided 31,000 marriage loans for retirees’ children and 940 loans to support student theses. Mr. Sheikhi confirmed that eligible retirees will continue to benefit from these facilities in five subsequent phases, building on a legacy of such financial aid that dates back to 1998.
A Four-Pillar Strategy for Enhanced Livelihoods
Acknowledging the impact of global economic pressures on fixed incomes, the Director General emphasized that improving retirees’ welfare is a fundamental priority. The Fund’s strategy is structured around four main pillars:
- Financial Facilities: Including essential and marriage loans.
- Discount and Installment Services: For the purchase of essential goods under special terms.
- Insurance Services: Expanding insurance coverage for retirees.
- Social Services: Encompassing educational, cultural, and sporting programs.
Among these, the credit and installment purchase schemes have proven exceptionally popular, allowing retirees to acquire essential commodities and home appliances with significant discounts and flexible payment plans through reputable service providers.
Commitment to Quality and Digital Efficiency
Mr. Sheikhi stressed that all partner companies executing these welfare plans are selected through a rigorous vetting process. Criteria include being recognized Iranian brands with a nationwide or multi-provincial presence and a proven record of delivering high-quality, authentic goods. To enhance efficiency, the service delivery process is being systematically digitized, leveraging online platforms for smoother access.
Future-Focused: The Next Wave of Services
Looking ahead, the official announced that a second package of welfare services is slated for launch in the near future. This new initiative will focus on education, skill development, and sports, to be delivered through partnerships with academic centers and cultural institutions.
Ongoing Oversight Ensures Retiree Interests
Concluding the update, Mr. Sheikhi reaffirmed the Fund’s unwavering dedication to protecting retirees’ interests. “Continuous monitoring of the contractual commitments of our partner companies is conducted,” he stated. “Statistical reports on retiree participation are regularly updated to ensure all decision-making is aligned with the real and evolving needs of the retiree community.”
