Iran’s Social Security Organization Launches Transparency Initiative for Millions of Insured Workers
In a significant move to enhance transparency and safeguard the rights of workers, Iran’s Social Security Organization (SSO) has expanded a pivotal national program. The initiative provides millions of insured individuals with monthly SMS updates detailing their employment and insurance records.
A Nationwide Safety Net
The SSO provides coverage for over half of Iran’s population, offering essential services in insurance and healthcare. The benefits it administers—including retirement pensions, disability allowances, survivor benefits, and various compensations—are directly calculated based on three critical data points: the base wage for insurance deductions, the number of days worked in a month, and the individual’s official job title.
The new SMS service delivers precisely this information directly to workers each month. This empowers them to verify that their employers are reporting data accurately and paying insurance premiums accordingly. Discrepancies in this information can lead to significant issues and financial loss for individuals when they later need to access their entitled benefits.
Preemptive Protection for Workers
The core objective of this program is proactive. By receiving timely notifications, workers can identify and address any reporting inaccuracies with their employers at an early stage. Should such dialogue not resolve the issue, the SSO has affirmed its readiness to undertake the necessary legal measures to help settle disputes concerning wages, job titles, and days worked.
This initiative is also designed to reduce the volume of related legal cases, which have been among the most frequent complaints filed by insured individuals with the Administrative Justice Court.
How to Participate and Take Action
Initially piloted in two provinces in late 2023, the program was officially rolled out nationwide in May 2024. To receive these crucial notifications, all insured individuals must be registered with the SSO’s online services portal at es.tamin.ir.
The SSO strongly urges those who have not yet registered, or whose registered mobile number is outdated, to promptly update their information on the portal or via the “Tamin Man” application. This step is vital for ensuring uninterrupted communication and the protection of one’s insurance rights.
If a received SMS contains information that does not match an individual’s actual employment situation, they can immediately file an official objection through the same online portal or by visiting a local SSO branch.
This comprehensive program underscores the Social Security Organization’s ongoing commitment to improving service quality, fostering transparency, and robustly protecting the interests of all insured citizens.
