National Weather Authority Issues Alert as Heavy Rains Set to Intensify Across Provinces
TEHRAN – The National Center for Weather Forecasting and Crisis Management has issued a detailed forecast, predicting intensified and widespread rainfall across several northern provinces in the coming days.
According to Sadeq Ziaeian, Head of the Center, the latest predictive models indicate the passage of shallow mid-level waves over the northern strip of the country. This weather pattern is expected to bring increased cloud cover, gusty winds, and scattered showers to parts of Ardabil, Gilan, Mazandaran, and Golstan provinces at various intervals today.
Extended Forecast and Widespread Impact
The unstable weather conditions are forecast to persist into the start of the week. On Sunday and Monday, cloudiness, winds, and rain showers are anticipated in areas including northern East Azerbaijan, Ardabil, Gilan, and western Mazandaran. Isolated showers are also expected in the Alborz mountain ranges located in eastern Mazandaran and Golstan.
Wind and Dust Conditions to Gradually Subside
Mr. Ziaeian further noted that gusty winds will continue over the eastern regions, the central parts of the country, and the southern slopes of the Alborz mountains for the next three days. During some hours, these conditions may lead to dust storms in the eastern parts of the country, particularly in the Zabol region. However, a significant reduction in wind intensity across the eastern half of the country is expected by Tuesday and Wednesday, leading to calmer and more stable atmospheric conditions nationwide.
Marine Forecast and Provincial Highlights
A relative increase in temperature is forecast for the coasts of the Caspian Sea during this period. Meanwhile, the western part of the Caspian Sea is predicted to be rough today and tomorrow, with the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, and the Sea of Oman experiencing rough seas over the next three days.
For the capital, Tehran, the forecast predicts clear to partly cloudy skies on Sunday with occasional winds, with temperatures ranging between 24 to 36 degrees Celsius. A similar pattern is expected for Monday.
The Head of the Center also provided temperature extremes for the country, noting that on Sunday and Monday, Ahvaz is predicted to be the warmest provincial capital with a high of 45 degrees Celsius, while Shahrekord is expected to be the coolest with a low of 9 degrees Celsius.
