US Defense Secretary Issues Stern Warning to Russia Amid Escalating Middle East Conflict
Washington D.C. – The Pentagon today announced a stark warning to Russia, cautioning against intervention in the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, now entering its second week. US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth delivered the firm message during a press briefing, emphasizing Washington’s resolve in the unfolding regional dynamics.
US Warning to Russia
Secretary Hegseth’s remarks followed inquiries regarding a recent telephone conversation between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Hegseth characterized the discussion as a “strong call,” expressing hope that it underscored a “peace opportunity” in the separate Russia-Ukraine conflict. Crucially, he added that the call reiterated “the understanding that they [Russia] should not get involved in this conflict [in the Middle East].”
Allegations of Russian Support
These warnings come amidst reports, citing informed sources via CNN, suggesting Russia’s alleged involvement in assisting Iran’s defense efforts by providing intelligence on US military targets. The Pentagon did not directly confirm these allegations but underscored the importance of Moscow’s non-interference.
Nuclear Stance and US Demands
Secretary Hegseth also directed a message towards Iran’s leadership. He advised the new Iranian leader, Ayatollah Sayed Mojtaba Khamenei, to heed President Trump’s caution against pursuing nuclear weapons. Hegseth stated that the new leader “would be wise to listen to our President, which is to not get nuclear weapons.” Tehran has consistently affirmed its nuclear program is exclusively for peaceful purposes and denies any intention to develop atomic weapons.
Escalating Conflict and Casualties
The conflict has seen extensive attacks by US and Israeli forces against military and residential areas in Iran, initiated last Saturday. Tragically, in one such incident in Tehran, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei was martyred. Across the nation, over 1,300 individuals have reportedly lost their lives due to these ongoing assaults by Washington and the Tel Aviv regime.
Iran’s Retaliatory Operations
In response to the hostilities, Iran’s armed forces initiated “Operation True Promise 4.” These operations targeted Israeli positions in occupied territories and US military installations in West Asia, reportedly inflicting significant damage through multiple waves of attacks.
Path Forward
Secretary Hegseth reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to the conflict, stating that Washington would pursue the war until the “complete and decisive defeat of the enemy,” and that this would unfold according to Washington’s timeline. His statements follow President Trump’s declaration on Monday that the war was “almost over.”
