A New Arena for a National Icon: Persepolis FC Charts Ambitious Path with Dedicated Stadium
Tehran – In a significant development for one of Iran’s most storied football clubs, Persepolis has officially announced the advancement of its plan to construct a dedicated stadium. The project, located in the Vardavard area between Tehran and Karaj, marks a major step in the club’s long-term development strategy.
Securing the Foundation
The club has confirmed that the land for the stadium has been secured through the cooperation of Bank Shahr. According to Peyman Hadi, the club’s Acting General Manager, Persepolis has already held three planning sessions for the project. The vision is for a modern sporting arena with a capacity for 40,000 to 50,000 spectators, designed to host domestic league matches and future Asian competitions.
A Strategic Pillar for Development
Hadi emphasized that stadium construction is a primary objective for the club’s board of directors, running parallel to daily operations and team management. He articulated a clear strategic vision, stating, “Our path must be that our young players are introduced and play in the Asian Elite League on our own field. This should be the policy of Persepolis Club and should continue even with a change of CEO.”
While a precise timeline is still being finalized, Hadi noted that construction is expected to take between two to three years once groundbreaking commences. The financing model, a collaboration between the club and Bank Shahr, is currently under detailed review.
Transparency and Financial Stability
Highlighting the club’s operational reforms, Hadi pointed to a new era of financial transparency. “I now believe Persepolis Club is one of the most transparent institutions in Iran,” he stated, revealing that the club publicly discloses its revenue figures monthly. He expressed gratitude for the support from national banking institutions, which has been instrumental in stabilizing the club’s finances in accordance with central bank regulations.
Looking ahead, Hadi confirmed that the technical aspects of the team, including player transfers, will remain under the purview of head coach Osmar Loss Vieira, with the club’s administration providing full support to address any squad requirements. This comprehensive approach, blending infrastructural ambition with administrative reform, signals a determined effort to solidify Persepolis’s standing both at home and on the continental stage.
