Subsidy Payment Set for Wednesday, Coinciding with Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) Birthday
In a significant move to support low-income families, the Iranian government has announced the disbursement date for the fourth phase of the electronic subsidy coupon scheme.
Ahmad Meydari, Deputy Minister of Cooperatives, Labour, and Social Welfare, announced on Saturday that the funds will be deposited into the accounts of eligible heads of households this coming Wednesday. The timing of the payment is set to coincide with the auspicious occasion of the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
Targeted Support for Vulnerable Segments
The subsidy is specifically designated for families falling within the first to third income deciles, ensuring that government assistance reaches those with the greatest need. This initiative is a cornerstone of the administration’s ongoing policy to strengthen the food basket and provide a robust social safety net for its less affluent citizens.
Funding Secured for National Scheme
The groundwork for this payment was laid earlier. On September 3rd, Hassan Norouzi, the Managing Director of the Targeted Subsidies Organization, had confirmed that a substantial sum of 27 trillion tomans had been transferred to the account of the company executing the coupon plan.
Norouzi had stated that this allocation was made possible through the provision of credit by the Plan and Budget Organization of Iran. He emphasized that the transfer underscores the government’s firm commitment to its pledge of supporting low-income and vulnerable strata of society, reinforcing its dedication to their economic welfare.
