Title: Government Intensifies Oversight of National Housing Support Plans
In a concerted effort to bolster its housing initiatives, the Iranian government has convened a high-level meeting to review and accelerate its supportive housing projects.
Sixth Specialized Monitoring Meeting Held
Chaired by Habibollah Taherkhani, the Deputy Minister of Housing and Urban Development, the sixth specialized monitoring session for supportive housing plans was recently held. The meeting included the participation of central deputies, CEOs of affiliated organizations and companies under the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, as well as provincial managers. These bi-weekly sessions, held per the directive of the Minister, are a regular and continuous effort to address challenges and fundamental issues in steering these critical housing support schemes.
During the meeting, key strategies were deliberated, and necessary solutions were formulated through collaborative discussion to resolve pending matters.
Reviewing Performance and Expanding Capacity
The session began with the Deputy Minister of Housing outlining crucial points for managing the National Housing Plan. Subsequently, provincial managers presented detailed reports on their performance and the actions taken to utilize new directives aimed at assisting low-income deciles with their down payments. Achievements from recent inaugurations were also reviewed.
A significant focus was placed on leveraging the capacity of the Islamic Revolution Housing Foundation. Upon the Minister’s emphasis, the Foundation presented a report on the potential developed from rural land expansion. It was decided that utilizing this capacity for the National Housing and Youth Population plans would be urgently prioritized.
Emphasis on Infrastructure and Unified Procedures
Deputy Minister Taherkhani further reviewed the performance of various departments and entities in constructing essential residential infrastructure and support services within housing sites. He stressed the critical need for preparatory work on overhead services—such as essential small commercial units, mosques, and schools—to be completed concurrently with the construction of residential units. It was resolved that responsible entities will present a report on ongoing projects and completed actions in the next meeting. A unified procedural directive will also be drafted and issued to ensure standardized implementation across all projects.
Prioritizing Project Financing
Acknowledging the vital importance of financing for the National Housing Plan projects, the Deputy Minister emphasized the continuous follow-up on concluding civil partnership agreements by the relevant authorities. The next meeting will include a report on the progress and latest measures in this area, alongside a specific report on the supplementary contracts for increasing project facilities.
