Title: Rural Housing Loan Increase Proposed for 2025, Awaits Government Approval
A Boost for Rural Development
A significant proposal to increase the financial support for rural housing in Iran is now under consideration by the government. The current rural housing loan, a key initiative for development, was raised earlier this year and now covers nearly half the cost of constructing a residential unit in the countryside.
The Proposed Increase
According to Hojatoleslam Hossein Rouhaninejad, the representative of the Supreme Leader in the Housing Foundation of the Islamic Revolution, a formal proposal has been submitted to the government. The initiative suggests raising the loan amount from its current 400 million Tomans to 500 million Tomans for the upcoming Iranian year (2025).
“The forecast for a 50 to 100 million Tomans increase in these facilities for the year 1405 has been given to the government, and we are awaiting the final decision,” Rouhaninejad stated in a recent address to reporters.
Current Loan Structure and Strategic Goals
The existing loan package is structured to provide substantial, long-term support to applicants. It offers 400 million Tomans at a 5 percent interest rate, with a repayment period of 20 years. This financial mechanism is designed as a robust aid for citizens seeking to build homes in rural areas, aligning with broader national strategies for balanced regional development and strengthening rural communities.
A Balanced Approach
Officials have emphasized that the decision-making process is comprehensive, taking into account the financial capabilities of the citizens. Rouhaninejad underscored that any increase must be balanced with the “applicants’ ability to repay the facilities,” ensuring the initiative’s long-term sustainability and success.
The final approval for the proposed loan enhancement now rests with the government, marking a potential new chapter in the ongoing efforts to improve housing and infrastructure across Iran’s rural regions.
