Title: Iran Announces Updated Summer Work Hours for Banks to Manage Energy Demand
In response to unprecedented summer heatwaves that placed significant strain on national infrastructure, Iranian government authorities have implemented a strategic extension of adjusted banking hours. This measured policy is designed to ensure grid stability and prevent potential widespread disruptions by reducing electricity consumption during peak demand periods.
Summer Schedule Extended Through September
Originally, banking hours were scheduled to revert to their standard timetable on September 6th. However, the country’s Administrative and Employment Affairs Organization issued a new directive extending the summer schedule. Accordingly, all bank branches will continue operating from 6:00 AM to 1:00 PM until the end of the Iranian month of Shahrivar (September 21st, 2024). This decision underscores the government’s proactive and pragmatic approach to national resource management.
Return to Standard Hours in October
A return to the conventional operational timetable is set for the start of the next Iranian month. Beginning on Mehr 1st (September 22nd, 2024), public service hours at bank branches will be from 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Bank employees will report to work from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM to facilitate preparations and internal operations before and after public hours.
Closure of Institutions on Thursdays
The policy of closing banks and public institutions on Thursdays, which was also introduced for the summer to optimize energy consumption, will remain in effect until the official end of the summer season. A decision regarding the continuation of this measure beyond that point will be made by the relevant authorities at a later date, based on a comprehensive assessment of national requirements.
