Iran Extends Registration Deadline for Imported Vehicle Initiative
TEHRAN – In a move to facilitate greater public participation, the national system for imported vehicle sales has officially extended the registration deadline for its latest offering. This initiative, operating under the oversight of the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, provides a structured and transparent mechanism for citizens to access new imported cars.
Revised Timeline for Applicants
Prospective buyers now have an extended window to complete the necessary steps. According to Official Announcement No. 10 from the Comprehensive System for Imported Vehicle Supply (salecars.ir), the schedule is as follows:
- Power of Attorney & Fund Blocking: Applicants have from Tuesday, November 25, 2024, until 14:00 on Monday, December 1, 2024, to grant a power of attorney for one of their bank accounts in the exact name of the “Comprehensive System for Imported Vehicle Supply, salecars.ir” and block a sum of 500 million Tomans.
- Main Registration & Vehicle Selection: Following the banking deadline, the main registration and vehicle preference selection will remain open on the integrated system until Saturday, December 6, 2024.
Officials have emphasized that both stages must be completed for a registration to be considered final. Any application with incomplete data or submitted outside the designated time frames will be rejected.
Eligibility and Regulations
The system operates under strict guidelines to ensure fairness and broad access. A key eligibility rule states that individuals who have won a vehicle in the imported car lottery system within the past 24 months are not permitted to participate in this new round.
All processes are conducted in full compliance with permits issued by the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade. Applicants are strongly advised to thoroughly review all general and specific conditions on the official platform before making any payments or signing contracts. The system has clarified that it bears no responsibility for user errors during the registration process.
Available Vehicle Models
The current phase features six foreign-brand models from the 2024 and 2025 model years, offered by authorized companies including Hermes Khodro, Yasin Motor, and Novin Mahan. The announced prices reflect the cost of the vehicles at the point of entry into the country. Final consumer costs will include additional statutory charges such as third-party insurance, value-added tax, registration fees, and other legal duties.
The available models are:
- KIA K3 (2025): An economical and compact city car.
- Hyundai Elantra (2025): A popular Korean sedan offered at a competitive price.
- Toyota Corolla Cross (2025): Noted for its fuel efficiency and the strong reputation of the Toyota brand.
