Persepolis Unveils Major Tactical Overhaul for Crucial Match Against Foolad
In a bold strategic move, Persepolis Football Club is set to deploy a new formation for its upcoming match, marking a significant shift in tactics for head coach Vahid Hashemian’s final game of the season. The decision, emerging from the team’s training camp, signals an ambitious attempt to secure a strong finish.
A New Defensive Foundation
The most notable change is a complete systemic overhaul. On the advice of assistant coach Amirhossein Peyrovani, the team will abandon its usual setup for a 3-4-3 formation. This structure will feature three central defenders, two wing-backs, three midfielders, and two forwards. This strategic pivot is designed to fully utilize the squad’s defensive potential while creating a more dynamic and aggressive attacking front.
Goalkeeper Payam Niazmand will maintain his position, determined to secure a clean sheet after recent concessions. The defensive trio is expected to consist of Hossein Abarghoui, Hossein Kanaanizadegan, and Morteza Pouraliganji, a combination that brings considerable experience and solidity to the backline.
Reinforced Midfield and Surprising Returns
The midfield engine will be powered by Soroush Rafiei and Marko Bakic. Their role is dual-purpose: to solidify the team’s defensive efforts and to act as the creative playmakers. The coaching staff is reportedly hopeful that Bakic’s powerful long-range efforts will finally pay off with a spectacular goal.
Adding to the match’s intrigue, Serge Gakpe is poised for a return to the pitch after more than a year, taking up the role of right wing-back. On the opposite flank, Milad Mohammadi will be tasked with tirelessly covering the left side, linking defense to attack.
An Unprecedented Two-Striker Attack
In a departure from their season’s norm, Persepolis will field two strikers simultaneously. Ali Alipour is designated as the primary striker, with Mohammad Omari playing just behind him as a shadow striker to inject pace into the frontline. Captain Omid Alishah will operate as a free-roaming playmaker behind the two forwards, aiming to unlock Foolad’s defense and create what could be the team’s most offensive lineup of the season.
This experimental and assertive lineup represents a major test for the technical staff, showcasing their adaptability and determination to end the season on a high note with a decisive victory.
