Revised Title: Policy Update Clarifies Healthcare Continuation for Adult Children of Military Retirees

In a move to streamline and clarify administrative procedures, the Armed Forces Retirement Organization has issued a new directive regarding healthcare coverage for the adult children of military retirees. The update provides clear guidelines for families wishing to maintain insurance benefits beyond standard age and marital status limits.
Key Changes to the System
The organization announced that systemic (automatic) coverage for sons over the age of 25 and for daughters after their marriage date will be discontinued. This measure is designed to formalize a process that was previously managed on an ad-hoc basis.
A Pathway for Continued Coverage
Importantly, the new directive does not represent an elimination of benefits but a clarification of the process to continue them. Retirees who are heads of household and wish to maintain optional, self-paid healthcare coverage for their eligible children must now proactively submit the required documentation to SATTA offices.
The organization emphasizes that retirees must act before their child’s current coverage is terminated to ensure a seamless transition to the voluntary plan. This procedural update aims to create a more transparent and structured system for all beneficiaries, ensuring that families who choose to can extend their healthcare coverage without interruption.
