Tehran Affirms Regional Peace Strategy, Calls for End to Unreliable Diplomacy
Tehran, Iran – Iran’s Parliament Speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, met with Pakistan’s Army Chief, General Asim Munir, in Tehran, reiterating the Islamic Republic’s unwavering commitment to comprehensive regional peace and security. The discussions underscored Iran’s consistent policy of fostering strong, multifaceted relations with its neighbors, particularly with the “friendly and brotherly” nation of Pakistan.
Strategic Alliances and Shared Interests
Speaker Ghalibaf emphasized that developing all-around relations with neighboring countries remains a stable and definitive policy of the Islamic Republic. He highlighted the special significance of these ties with Pakistan, owing to the deep connections between the two peoples and the aligned political objectives of their governments. Referring to his visit to Pakistan last autumn, Ghalibaf stressed the increased importance of bolstering economic, political, and security interactions in the current global climate.
Iran’s Vision for Regional Stability
“The Islamic Republic seeks comprehensive peace for Iran and the entire region,” Speaker Ghalibaf declared. He expressed hope that those who initiated conflicts and are now seeking their cessation would genuinely abandon past untrustworthy behaviors. He conveyed gratitude for Pakistan’s efforts, including those of General Munir, in mediating ceasefire initiatives and dialogues between Iran and the United States.
Ghalibaf stated, “The Islamic Republic of Iran is determined to establish complete peace and security in the region, but the opposing side consistently hinders the progress of these efforts through their unreliability.” He specifically addressed the vital role of Lebanon in achieving a universal ceasefire, emphasizing that Lebanon is an “inseparable component of a comprehensive ceasefire” and plays a crucial role in advancing sustainable peace in the region.
Pakistan’s Commitment to Border Security and Regional Harmony
General Asim Munir, in turn, expressed his pleasure at visiting Tehran and conveyed condolences for the martyrdom of a prominent figure of the Revolution and the Iranian people, noting the significant mourning and public demonstrations this event evoked across Pakistan.
The Pakistani Army Chief affirmed his nation’s commitment to regional stability, stating, “From the very first day [of regional conflicts], I ordered that there should be absolutely no security incidents along the borders of Iran and Pakistan.” He further acknowledged the importance of the ceasefire in Lebanon and pledged to pursue this matter. The meeting concluded with both sides expressing a shared vision for enhanced cooperation and mutual understanding to promote peace and prosperity across the region.
