Iran’s Scientific Diplomacy Amplified: New Atlas Showcases Global Reach of National Journals
Tehran, Iran – In a significant stride for Iran’s academic and international engagement, the first comprehensive atlas detailing the nation’s scientific publications indexed in global citation databases has been released. This landmark publication, titled “Iranian Scientific Journals Indexed in International Citation Databases,” offers an unprecedented, unified view of the country’s scientific output on the world stage.
A Unified Vision of National Research
The issuance of this atlas represents a crucial step in consolidating and showcasing Iran’s contributions to global knowledge. Previously, information regarding Iranian journals accepted in prestigious international databases was fragmented and difficult to access. This new compilation, spearheaded by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, alongside collaborations with the Ministry of Health, the Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC), and the Scientific Information Center of Academic Jihad (SID), provides a centralized and authoritative resource.
Dr. Samad Nejad-Ebrahimi, Secretary of the Publications Commission at the Ministry of Science, emphasized the project’s national scope, stating, “This atlas presents a comprehensive and integrated list of the country’s scientific journals indexed in reputable international citation databases. It moves beyond departmental and organizational perspectives to present a cohesive picture of the nation’s scientific publishing capabilities.”
Highlighting Scientific Prowess and Global Impact
The atlas meticulously details 468 Iranian scientific journals currently indexed in leading international databases. These publications are instrumental in disseminating research findings, with Iranian journals collectively publishing over 20,000 international-standard scientific articles annually. This volume of scholarly output underscores the dynamism and robust capacity of Iran’s research and scientific publishing ecosystem.
“These journals play an invaluable role in producing and disseminating knowledge,” noted Dr. Nejad-Ebrahimi. “They serve as distinguished representatives of Iran’s scientific and research capabilities in international forums, significantly contributing to the global introduction of the country’s scientific achievements.”
Strategic Implications for Research and Collaboration
The creation of this atlas is strategically designed to benefit a wide array of stakeholders. Researchers, scientific policymakers, university administrators, and research professionals now have access to a reliable and up-to-date source of information. This enhanced visibility is expected to foster greater international scientific collaboration, elevate the quality and authority of Iranian periodicals, and provide robust support for the advancement of research activities within the country.
The initiative signifies a deliberate effort to highlight Iran’s active participation in global scientific discourse, demonstrating the nation’s commitment to contributing to and engaging with the international academic community.
